dLocal and Trip.com partner to unlock scalable travel payments in Asia and Latin America

The collaboration, with Brazil at the forefront, streamlines transactions and sets the stage for growth in key emerging markets

3 min. read

Montevideo, Uruguay, July 24, 2025dLocal (NASDAQ: DLO), the leading payment platform connecting global merchants to emerging markets, has announced a partnership with Trip.com, an online travel service provider within the Trip.com Group, to deliver efficient and localized payment experiences for travelers across Asia and Latin America. The collaboration is already showing strong performance in Brazil, Trip.com’s largest market in the region, and includes plans to expand into additional key emerging markets where tourism is rapidly growing.

The travel industry in emerging markets faces key challenges such as currency volatility, regulatory complexity and diverse local payment needs. Asia-Pacific is driving half of global travel growth according to McKinsey and Company, making local payment adaptation essential for global players. In Latin America the need is just as pressing. Travel-related eCommerce in Brazil grew by 28% in 2024 according to PCMI. While cards remain widely used, alternative payment methods like Pix are rapidly gaining traction which highlights the urgency for optimized local infrastructure across both regions.

To help meet this demand, dLocal is partnering with Trip.com to deliver tailored payment capabilities that ensure security, compliance and efficiency. With a single integration, Trip.com gains access to local relevant solutions, ranging from widely used debit and credit cards to innovative alternative payment methods like Pix in Brazil, making the booking flow more intuitive and driving stronger conversion. This approach has contributed to a sustained increase in volume, underscoring the impact of dLocal’s acquiring solution on travel-related growth.

Building on this foundation, the alliance supports Trip.com’s continued expansion across key emerging markets. With a strong presence in Brazil, the company is now reinforcing its position in the region. Operating successfully in these markets requires more than scale; it demands regulatory agility, operational adaptability, and payment solutions aligned with local behavior—capabilities strengthened by dLocal’s regional expertise.

At the same time, this collaboration contributes to the broader global reach of the Trip.com Group by strengthening the end-to-end travel journey. By streamlining multi-currency payment flows and reducing friction at checkout, Trip.com delivers a smoother customer experience while improving internal efficiency and reconciliation across complex, multi-market operations.

“As we expand across markets, having a trusted partner like dLocal has been key to enhancing our payment infrastructure and supporting our global operations,” said Joe Zhou, Head of Global Payment at Trip.com. “Their local expertise and flexible network have strengthened our performance in Brazil and played a strategic role in scaling our business.”

“Emerging markets present enormous opportunities but also complex payment challenges that global travel platforms can’t solve alone,” said Justin Goh, Head of China at dLocal. “Through our partnership with Trip.com, we’ve simplified local payment acceptance not only in Brazil but across key other high-growth regions. This is what we do best, combining local knowledge and technology to unlock scale for global players.”
