dLocal Named to Fast Company’s Annual List of the World’s Most Innovative Companies for 2020

SAN FRANCISCO, March 10, 2020 — dLocal, an award-winning fintech company that specializes in cross-border payments for emerging markets, has been named to Fast Company’s prestigious annual list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies for 2020.

The list honors the businesses making the most profound impact on both industry and culture, showcasing a variety of ways to thrive in today’s fast-changing world. This year’s MIC list features 434 businesses from 39 countries.

“We’re extremely honored to be recognized by Fast Company for our work in closing the payments innovation gap that exists between developed countries and emerging economies,” said Jacobo Singer, COO at dLocal. “Emerging markets present an enormous opportunity for our clients, whether they’re looking to expand to Latin America, Asia, or new markets in the Middle East and Africa. Solving the payments puzzle can be one of the most challenging aspects of successful entry into these markets, and we’re grateful that we get to come to work every day and solve these problems for our clients.”

dLocal was recognized for the debut of its cash collection solution. Aimed to help ride-hailing and gig economy companies, dLocal’s cash collection solution is a digitally-led payment process that increases the number of consumers and drivers capable of providing ride-hailing services to cash-paying riders in emerging markets.

“Our single platform already accepts payments from riders and handles payouts to drivers, so it came as no surprise that our customers asked us to close the loop and help provide their drivers with an easy way to pay commissions when riders pay with cash,” said Rodrigo Sánchez Prandi, VP product at dLocal. “With up to 70% of users in certain LatAm countries having no credit card, handling cash payments is crucial for gig economy companies. Our solution resolves this major operational challenge and enables our clients to expand faster and more efficiently into new markets – with only one integration.”

The platform bridges the gap between the needs of global, online enterprises and payments realities in emerging countries. dLocal operates as the local merchant of record on behalf of its clients, speeding time-to-market and minimizing operational costs. It also provides built-in, value-add services that include automated currency conversion, guaranteed fund repatriation for settlement locally, in the U.S. or Europe, optimization of local payment operations and other localization-related advisory.

The World’s Most Innovative Companies is Fast Company's signature franchise and one of its most highly anticipated editorial efforts of the year. It provides both a snapshot and a road map for the future of innovation across the most dynamic sectors of the economy.

“At a time of increasing global volatility, this year’s list showcases the resilience and optimism of businesses across the world. These companies are applying creativity to solve challenges within their industries and far beyond,” said Fast Company senior editor Amy Farley, who oversaw the issue with deputy editor David Lidsky.
